Ice 20 – Make Your Own Ice Cream Courtesy Of Cuisinart
The Ice 20 is an ice
cream maker from top home appliances designer Cuisinart. It has been a popular choice for lovers of home made
ice cream for many years now. Here is a brief review of what you get with the Cuisinart ice 20
Automatic ice cream maker.
The Cuisinart ICE 20 ice cream maker can make 1 quart
(around about 1 liter/2 pints/4 cups) of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet or even a frozen ice drink like a slush
puppy or an ice daiquiri or margherita drink. Depending on the type of confection or drink that you are making,
this can take around 20 to 30 minutes to make from placing the ingredients into the machine
to trying a scoop of the tasty outcome.
Stripped down to the bare essentials, the ice cream maker is simply a motor that attaches to a churning
arm or paddle and a frozen bowl. The frozen bowl is generally made of a non stick material on the
inner surface of the bowl and a metal outer layer. The bowl has a solution in between the inner and out layers, a
bit like the blue solution used as an ice alternative.
Before you can make your ice cream, the bowl has to be placed in the freezer to allow this solution to freeze.
Generally leave the bowl in over night or until the solution is completely solid (it won't slosh
around when you shake the bowl). Most people that like to make ice cream or some other frozen dessert, generally
just leave the bowl in the freezer all the time so that it is always ready, should they decide that they fancy a
treat.
The frozen solution ensures that the contents of the bowl stay at a temperature cold enough to be frozen. The
motor turns the churning arm around the bowl so that the ingredients mix and get suitable aerated so that the
consistency of the ice cream is soft and that they get frozen.
If you buy Cuisinart Ice 20 then you will find
that it comes with a good recipe booklet and a complete instruction manual. This tells
you how to put the machine together and lists plenty of recipes for making ice cream, sorbets, frozen yogurt and
the rest. The machine is designed so that there is an opening with a spout so that you can add various ingredients
to the bowl mixture as it is being churned. So if you fancy added chocolate chips, cookie dough, fresh fruit or
whatever takes your fancy them it is easy to do.
There is also a transparent top that allows toy to see how the mixture is progressing. This is useful as
sometimes the mixture sets before the expected 20 minutes or so (or sometimes it doesn't set as quickly as
expected).
All the components of the machine are easy to maintain and wash. As already stated, the inner
lining of the bowl is a non stick material that needs a splash of water to remove and left over ice cream or other
items. The churning arm detaches from the motor and can be run under a faucet or tap to get it clean. The motor is
surrounded by a hard white plastic that is also easy to was with a sponge or some other clean item.
